Know what’s Inside Your Roofing Warranty

It’s important to know what’s inside your roofing warranty. They’re there to protect you, to help you when you need it, and to help save money down the road. But if you don’t know what’s inside it, it can’t help you when you need it most. They cover certain things, and can exclude others. We hope this can help you know what to look for to be sure your roofing warranty can help protect you.

Roofing Warranty

Manufactures require that only roofing contractors install a roof. Be sure that who you hire is qualified, authorized, or licensed to install the brand of roofing material you’re having installed on your home. If there is any doubt, contact the manufacturer and verify. If not, choose another contractor to do the job. Typically a roofing warranty will cover leaks which are caused by defective materials or poor workmanship/installation. These are things you cannot control, and will need to be repaired by your roofing contractor. But, when it comes to extreme weather, such as those we can experience on the Gulf Coast, those are excluded. So be aware of exactly what your warranty covers.

Another tip is to reduce the chance of needing to use your warranty. Keep your roof in tip top shape by having it inspected on a regular basis, preventing damage, and by hiring a reputable contractor to begin with.
